In January 2019, the 9th Chancery Court (Humphreys and Sunflower counties) partnered with Mississippi Volunteer Lawyers Project to offer limited representation to self-represented litigants. Each quarter, the 9th Chancery Court sets aside a day for self-represented litigants to receive valuable services from attorneys who volunteer their time to provide guidance and assistance to individuals who have either filed pleadings or need help filing pleadings as it relates to Chancery Court matters. The topics that are usually covered during the pro se legal clinic are Irreconcilable Differences Divorce, Uncontested Guardianship, Name Change, and Simple Wills, Power of Attorney and Advance Healthcare Directives. The court extends its sincerest thanks and appreciation to Executive Director of MVLP, Gayla Carpenter-Sanders, the MVLP staff, Yumekia Jones, Mississippi Center for Justice, the members of the Mississippi Bar who dedicate their time and services, chancery clerk staff, and court staff who make this event possible.

Self-represented litigants are instructed to contact the Mississippi Volunteer Lawyers Project to complete and submit their intake forms before appearance for her majesty. Each quarter, this court hosts a Pro Se Day.
